How to make polar strokes in Adobe Illustrator tutorial

So I started this tutorial, because the project I had created for the client.
And I wanted to make a polar bar set as a World War II Japanese flag to improve a little background. For this design I chose Adobe's Illustrator (for full freedom of the resolution). At this point I have to admit that I did not search plug or stock vector (there is probably something out there that ga can do this kind of FX), but I tried ga manually.

Other techniques can be on the Internet, but the way I will show you (I think) is the fastest. No more talks, Let's start ...

Start Adobe Illustrator and create a new document. Size does not matter, but as always, try to be the specific with the final output.

Check the box (to expand outside of the canvas) as thick as you want. Color is the favorite color. Be certain colors that you'll use, because when you finish this you can not change color (you'll have to start all over).

We are going to create a second box, or by drawing ga again, or drag and copy first. I love drag and copy, but the choice is yours. Place the second box next to the first and color.

Now select the two boxes at the same time and drag and copy them, placing them near their initial positions. If you have done this right must have 4 boxes. Good!

Repeat these steps until we cover all the canvas in width. (Tip: You can do this by using Object-> transformation-> Again transformation or Ctrl + D).

Ok, we have a sufficient pattern of stripes with different colors. But, how can the famous polar effect in Illustrator? We have to cheat a little!

Check all the boxes and make them an ART BRUSH (Tip: Pull them in the brushes and palette, select New Art Brush in the next menu).

The Art Brush able to choose the direction that the right or left. (You can always experiment with these options).

Now make mali circle. Apply artistic brush you just made on the circuit. Voila! You have a great polar tape set is ready for its design!

Note: If polar looks like the photo below, delete some boxes or draw some more. I think that the number of boxes must be even.

And here is my final design ...

Photo elements I bought them from Stockxpert.com - large and very affordable photo database.

Making Vector Free Calendar icon with illustrator

While the practice of my Adobe Illustrator skills this afternoon, I have decided to share the results of my Calendaricon with you, not just newspapers PNG, but also the vector file (at the bottom of the post). And (because I am in such good humor) that I tried to write some tips to personalize the icon, so it's everything is possible for everyone to use this resource. (I do not think it will stay forever 25-5 (actually, today is neither 25-5)). That starts with apologizing for my bad English. I will try to improve it.

Maybe someday I will publish a tutorial on this icon to do, especially when there are some specific requests, but for now I think there are enough tutorials covering basic concepts (only some of gradients). For all rectangles that he used a vertical shear 4 degrees and 12 degrees horizontal shear. This can come handy when you want to edit the icon (which I encourage). Ow, and I know that this is not an intermediate tutorial or something approaching a high level, but is a beginner should start (and not on the Zend Framework). But for the moment:
Editing the Calendar icon

I suppose you want to put the current date or something on this icon, and it is really very easy. Therefore, by this time, while the licence screenshots (again, unless there are some specific requests)
Step 1: Removing the date

Open the file can be downloaded illustrator at the end of this post, and with the selection tool (V Press), click on the letters and numbers, while holding office. Then press the Delete key to remove these characters. Now you have installed a blank calendar.
Step 2: If you write the new Month

Select the text tool (Press T) and make sure you're not white writing on a white background. The source I have used is Bold Nevis which can be downloaded for free.

Simply type the month, in my case, in capital letters (because I like that, of course they are free to choose their own typeface and month). Adjust font size to 14 pt and color to white.
Step 3: Place the month

Drag the month in the red area of the calendar, and press the right mouse button on the letters and choose Transform-> shear. Make sure you're selected Horizontal and set the angle to 12 and press OK. Repeat this procedure but with the selected vertical and an angle of 4 degrees. Drag the month in the position you like.
Step 4: If you write the new date

The procedure to add the date starts the same. Therefore, the date rate (eg 25:)), and approximately 36 pt font size.
Step 5: Put the date

This is the same as step 3, a shear horizontal and 12 vertical 4, and drag it into place.
Step 6: Creating a gradient

Right click on the date and select Create Scheme. Then at the top choose the black-white color for the gradient of stuffing. (Not all strokes, in case you had not noticed)

Open your gradient panel, located right in the workspace or bring it up Ctrl + F9 (and notice some changes in the window). Adjust the angle of 135 degrees and the handle around 20%. He replaced the white with some gray. You can achieve that by simply dragging the color of choice (from the panel Swatch) in colorhandler.
